He later wrote and performed with such bands as the Blackeyed Susans and the Red Ponies. He died in 1999 at the age of 36. Chris Coughran is an honorary research fellow with the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne. His writing has appeared in numerous collections and scholarly journals.Niall Lucy is a research fellow in the humanities at Curtin University of Technology. He is the author ofA Derrida Dictionary and Postmodern Literary Theory. John Kinsella is an award-winning Australian poet and writer. He is an Extraordinary Fellow of Churchill College, Cambridge University, and a research fellow at the University of Western Australia.

Beautiful waste / The Monthly ~ David McComb, who passed away in 1999 at the age of 36, was the lead singer and songwriter of The Triffids. The band began their career in Perth in the late 1970s and broke up in 1989, and although McComb released a solo album, Love of Will, in 1994, and wrote and played with other musicians over the years, it is his first group that made him his reputation.
Beautiful Waste: Poems by David McComb (The Triffids ~ His writing has appeared in collections such as Reading America: New Perspectives on the American Novel (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2008) and scholarly journals including Angelaki and ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment. He is co-editor, with Niall Lucy, of Beautiful Waste: Poems by David McComb (Fremantle Press, 2009).

David McComb - Wikipedia ~ David Richard McComb (17 February 1962 – 2 February 1999) was an Australian musician. He was the singer-songwriter and guitarist of the Australian bands, The Triffids (1976–89) and The Blackeyed Susans (1989–93). He also had a solo career including leading David McComb and The Red Ponies. Over his career McComb had bouts of alcoholism, and amphetamine and heroin abuse.
